“One is never afraid of the unknown; one is afraid of the known coming to an end.”
Krishnamurti

Who would have thought that thousands of lives would have been lost in the first quarter of 2020 due to a virus? or a virus would suffice which would drastically affect the world economy negatively. — I guess you didn’t, neither did I.

Sometimes in March 2020, the reality of COVID-19 had just begun to dawn on us as a country, especially in the state where I resided, which happens to be one of the smallest in the country in terms of landmass, but one of the largest in terms of population density. The company where I work, which happens to be a Technology Solution company had to result in its employees working remotely.

For me, it was a lot of changes going on at the same time. I had to leave my friends, my Saturday’s volunteering, my lifestyle, etc. This I know, is what billions of people around the world are facing. Every morning when I wake up, I know I am not alone in this situation, at night when I go to bed, I recognize we are all in this together and we will overcome this pandemic.

However, I must admit, it gave me the chance to spend more time with family, which I’m really grateful for and also enough time to reflect on my life.

How COVID-19 is perceived in my locality

The majority of the people do not believe in the existence of this virus in my locality, which boils down to issues with adhering to the preventive measures put in place by the government. You hear people say things like:

  • It’s just politics
  • It might be real in other countries, but, not here
  • It’s people who have Malaria and High-Fever that NCDC says have COVID-19
  • Why are people recovering quickly from it?
  • It can’t survive the harsh weather in this country.

My Perception of peoples thought

Let’s admit the following:

  • our government is only trying to play politics.
  • The figures we see by NCDC daily aren’t real.
  • Our government is corrupt and they are only looking for means to siphon funds.

Nonetheless, if we claim to love ourselves and our loved ones, we would realize that the measures put in place by the government which includes:

  • Wearing of nose masks
  • Social or Physical distancing

are ways to curtail the spread of this virus and would cost us next to nothing in adhering to.

“Prevention by severing the chain is the immediate solution.”
Mohith Agadi

I would say to everyone out there, whether you believe it or not, Prevention Would Always Be better Than Cure. Stay safe.

What have I learned so far?

Yes, the world at large is facing a pandemic and I believe everything that has a beginning will surely have an end. Also, I have come to realize that it isn’t enough to wish for certain things, you have to get started.

My thoughts about this pandemic?

Yes, men are social beings and want to celebrate, travel, attend religious gatherings, etc. However, Coronavirus has come to Disrupt the Norm. It’s a new reality which we must accept. It has enforced the use of Technology and has shown us that things could be done differently. So, I would say, amidst its devastating impact, it forced a larger populace to see the usefulness of the technologies around us and how we could benefit greatly from them.

POST COVID-19

I can’t predict the future, the same way, I couldn’t have ever thought the year 2020 would be a sad one for thousands of families around the world. However, I can tell for sure, that certain things would be done differently, and un-necessitated travels and spendings would be cut short.

My thoughts to people out there

Recognize that you are not in this alone, and together we shall overcome. Therefore, draw out your plans now and work towards achieving your goals. There are too many resources on the internet that could help you achieve your set goals, rather than staying idle or remaining at a stagnant level. I must have just mentioned sourcing for resources on the internet, I know this may be difficult for certain people, nonetheless, if by any chance you can access the internet, please and please, channel it towards doing something worthwhile.

Tell me about your own COVID-19 Experience…..
